For almost 20 years now, Full Basket Belize has worked to improve the education, health, and environment of Belizean communities.  We do this primarily through FBB’s Scholars Program and Community Grants Program, both of which rely on the generosity of your donations.

While the total amount of funds raised is modest, it has gradually grown each year so we can have a bigger and bigger impact. For the 2024-2025 school year, FBB is supporting 46 students with scholarships of $500 US each.  For the calendar year 2024, we are supporting 10 community projects, each worth up to $1,000 US.  Most importantly, since we are a purely volunteer non-profit organization, every dollar donated goes much further than it might otherwise, to those who need it most — students and community projects in Belize.

Thank you for your support of our programs!

FBB Scholarship Impact Study Results

In order to measure the impacts of the FBB Scholarship Program, the Full Basket Belize Board of Directors has initiated a process to ascertain what our recent scholarship students are doing after graduating from high school.  Our Impact Committee attempted to contact all the 100 FBB Scholar graduates from 2019 through 2023.  We sent out emails and followed up via WhatsApp, asking the graduates to respond to an online survey.  Here are some highlights.

Of the attempts to contact 100 graduates from the past 5 years, 27 scholars responded to the survey.  Because we were able to get information from only a tad over 25% of the graduates, we will not be drawing any grand conclusions.

However, we do have some exciting and very promising news to share:

  • Of the 27 scholars who responded, 25 continue to live in Belize; two are studying abroad.
  • Seventeen are pursuing degrees in 6th form or university while 12 are employed.
  • Eighteen stated that they are “paying it forward” in one way or another.  Many continue to tutor friends, younger siblings, or other relatives.
  • One scholar has established his own foundation and is donating supplies to his village school.
  • Another scholar has started a business and now has multiple locations throughout Belize.
  • All respondents expressed their thanks to Full Basket Belize for the support we provided, thanks to donors’ gifts.  They commented that, without that support, they would not have been able to complete their high school educations and be where they are today.
FBB is implementing plans to follow up annually with the 27 scholars.  In addition, each year beginning in 2025 we will contact all graduating scholars and arrange for them to keep in touch so that we can measure the impacts of your generous donations over time!  THANK YOU!
